Background

I graduated from Moscow State University and got my Ph.D in genetics there. In 1990 my family moved to the United States and I joined Dan’s lab at Washington University in St. Louis. During my tenure in the lab I participated in almost all major projects: Structure and sequence of the Drosophila melanogaster genome; genome structure and evolution in D. virilis; cosuppression of transposable elements and hybrid dysgenesis; C-value paradox; and the transposable element mariner. For the last several years, I’m involved with the study of evolution of drug resistance of dhfr in Plasmodium and bacteria.
